Description
Viking, also called Norseman or Northman, member of the Scandinavian seafaring warriors who raided and colonized wide areas of Europe from the 9th to the 11th century and whose disruptive influence profoundly affected European history. These pagan Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish warriors were probably prompted to undertake their raids by a combination of factors ranging from overpopulation at home to the relative helplessness of victims abroad. – Britannica.com
The original rock crystal necklace on which our jewelry is based was found on the island of Gotland in Sweden. It consists of eleven rock crystals in silver settings and ten granulated silver beads of varying sizes. This rare design is believed to have drawn its inspiration from Slavic fashion, most likely acquired through trade or raiding. From ancient to medieval times, rock crystal was believed to have talismanic properties.
