Description
“These are the times that try mens’ souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he who stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.”
Thomas Paine’s American Crisis is considered one of the most important literary works of the American Revolution. Published on December 19th, and read aloud to the Continental Army while encamped at McConkey’s Ferry on December 23, 1776, the pamphlet is credited with bolstering troop moral just before the Battle of Trenton.
