Cloth Map: New York City, 1776
tep back into Revolutionary-era New York with this full-color cloth replica map from 1776, capturing lower Manhattan’s bustling port, midtown’s patchwork of farms, the small village of Brooklyn, and Paulus Hook—now known as Jersey City. Adapted from Bernard Ratzer’s renowned “Plan of the City of New York… surveyed in the Years 1766 & 1767,” this restored artifact offers a vivid glimpse into a city on the brink of the American Revolution.
Printed on a crease-resistant cotton-polyester fabric, the map is durable, lightweight, and ideal for display. At 35 × 26.5 inches, it hangs beautifully as wall décor—but it’s also machine washable and iron-safe on low heat, making it both functional and timeless.
Each map includes a QR code linking to a digital download of the Colonial Gazette PDF, featuring a 4-page annotated guide that dives deeper into the city’s landmarks, inhabitants, and role in the Revolution.
Because this design is sourced from an original historical document, you may notice small imperfections—faithful remnants of the artifact’s journey through time. The artwork is carefully restored and transferred using eco-friendly, water-based inks, and each cloth map is cut and hemmed by hand, with slight variations and minimal shrinkage possible.
