Colonial Bohea Loose Leaf Tea – 3 oz in Signature Tin

Step back into the 18th century with Colonial Bohea Tea, the most popular tea of America’s colonial era and a key player in the events leading to independence. This authentic loose-leaf black tea blend was by far the largest import during the colonial period, so much so that “bohea” became slang for “tea.”

Imported by the British and Dutch East India Companies, Colonial Bohea (sometimes called Bohea Souchong or Lapsang Bohea) combined black tea varieties such as broken orange pekoe, pekoe, and souchong. While originally the scrap leaves of lower grades, colonists considered Bohea a luxury. In fact, during the Boston Tea Party of 1773, 242 chests of Bohea were tossed into Boston Harbor.

Each 3 oz bag of Bohea loose tea is carefully packaged in a matte black signature tin for freshness and style. With its smooth, earthy flavor and rich history, this tea is perfect for history buffs, reenactors, and anyone who enjoys sipping a taste of the past.
