Although Patriot forces lose the conflict, they’re far from demoralized. They inflict massive causalities on the British army and prove themselves worthy adversaries. It is not without a major sacrifice, however, as Dr. Joseph Warren, leader of the Patriot movement in Boston, is martyred in the fighting. British General Thomas Gage stated that slaying Warren was “worth the death of 500 men”.
